Dancer is a horse that has and always will have a special place in my heart. She was my first horse. When my parents bought her for me, I was not sure what direction she or I were going to go. I just knew I was proud and wanted to learn to ride. Dancer was really not a great first horse because she was still young and just getting started herself. She did ok and would do great for experienced riders but I was just starting out and was really nervous.

Taylor and Dancer

When we finally did get to a point that I was getting to be a better rider, I decided I wanted to pursue barrel racing. By Dancers papers, we thought she would be a great prospect, with the speed in her blood line and the cow horse to soften it up, but Dancer wasn't a very willing participant. Dancer was a little to hard headed for me to start on barrels with so my dad let me use his horse which you now know as Dolly. If I only knew then what I know now. You can read all about the history of Dolly and I on her page. Not too long after I was racing on Dolly we decided that Dancer needed to be with someone that would work with her and give her a job, so we put her up for sale. Soon afterward we received a call from some people in Nebraska who wanted her. They came down here to Oklahoma to see her and bought her with the condition that if they ever decided to sell her we would have the first opportunity to buy her. We were all very sad to see her go and talked about her all the time. My dad would get a little teary-eyed every time he came across her pictures wishing we had never sold her. We asked often if they would like to sell her back, but they wanted to keep her. Well, about a year later they moved here to Okahoma and decided she wasn't going to work for them anymore. So we finally received that call asking if we wanted Dancer back. Dancer is now home and will always be with us. She is back in training and I am excited to get started. She has great potential and now that we both have time under our belts, I am certain things will be much better for both of us. One other fascinting note, she is also back with her son, "Jay", who is becoming an incredible barrel horse. You can read all about him on his page.
